Preventive Dentistry
Hi there, this is Cody from the Accounts Department. I hope everyone is having a great summer! Ours just got started here in the Great Northwest.
I was watching our local news yesterday and Oregon is close to passing a law that would ban plastic bags from being used in grocery and department stores. At first I thought this seemed ridiculous, but as I considered it, I wondered why it has taken this long to act on preventive measures to prolong what we have on this planet. Why is that a big deal? We have these types of reactions every day, at work or at home. This got me thinking about the process of preventive dentistry.
Today as Dental Professionals we have the ability to affect the lives of our patients in a way that we never have before. As a child and young adult, I cannot remember one hygiene exam that didn’t become a restorative exam soon after. I brushed my teeth, I flossed… Sure I know now I had some risk factors but back then it never made sense why my sister, with the same hygiene habits and risk factors, never had cavities! If only someone would have let me know about prevention when I was younger.
Interacting with patients isn’t always easy, particularly because patients are not used to preventive care from their dentist. When they visit their doctor they aren’t apprehensive when he slaps the tight blood pressure cuff on their arm. But what is that? PREVENTION!
Let us help. If you’ve had some trials and tribulations in helping patients understand the importance of CariFree and preventive dental care, we have you covered! We’ll schedule a refresher training anytime that works for your team. Let’s focus on patient communication, the CariFree plan, and presentation so your patients understand what you have to offer them through treatment and beyond. A life without cavities; isn’t that worth the expense? Nothing is more rewarding than changing people’s lives!
Talk to you soon,
Cody Clark
