5 Goals for Your CAMBRA Program to Take You to the Next Level of Care

If you already incorporate CAMBRA into your daily practice, BRAVO! It is not always easy to change the way we think about treating people. However, if we truly want to treat people better CAMBRA offers a streamlined protocol to do just that. That being said, there are always things we can improve. Here are 10 New Year’s resolutions to make your CAMBRA program even better for 2016!

1. Expand your offering

Often offices get stuck in a rut with who they talk to about CAMBRA. Typically extreme and high risk patients are the only people exposed to knowing their risk for decay (like it is any secret to them). In 2016, challenge yourself and your team to select a broader population to talk to about their caries risk. Look for patients with specific risk factors (medication use, history, age etc.) and take them through the process. You may be surprised at what you find!

2. Set a daily goal

In the same vain as #1, often CAMBRA programs (like any other new program) lose their novelty after a few months and we get lazy. Many offices will say that they just don’t have any patients to talk to about it, but with dental caries being the #1 preventable disease, having NO ONE to talk to seems like a stretch. In order to reinvigorate the team and your patients start each day with a goal. Maybe you see 20 patients that day, shoot for 10 to talk to about their risk.

3. Keep up on the science

Science is constantly changing. One excellent way to never miss out on the newest information is to follow the experts. Dr. V. Kim Kutsch offers regular FREE webinars on the topic, sign up and listen in whenever they are announced!

4. Review your marketing strategies

How are you letting your community know you offer something better or different than your competition? Have you done a press release? Do you let people know through a blog? Are you producing a newsletter? How is your in-office marketing? If you aren’t sure what to do, let us know! We have a library of options to get you started.

5. Meet about it

The start of a new year is the perfect time to talk to the team about things you have been meaning to get around to but just haven’t had the time. Schedule a team meeting and discuss your 2016 goals and make CAMBRA one of them. Outline your specific expectation (screening x patients daily, reviewing candidates in the morning huddle, offering treatment to every patient who is screened etc.). If you are specific in your expectations your team will be confident in what to do.
