Position: Procurement & Planning Specialist

Job Summary

The Procurement & Planning Specialist is responsible for purchasing raw materials, components, and packaging while supporting production and inventory planning to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations. This role partners closely with Production, Quality, and Finance to balance supply availability, cost, inventory levels, and demand requirements. This position reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Source and purchase raw materials, packaging, and indirect supplies in alignment with production plans and inventory targets
  • Issue and manage purchase orders, track order confirmations, lead times, and deliveries
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, quality concerns, and delivery performance
  • Maintain accurate vendor, pricing, and lead-time data in the ERP system
  • Support supplier performance tracking and cost-control initiatives
  • Support production and materials planning based on demand forecasts, sales orders, and manufacturing schedules
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages, excess, and obsolescence
  • Analyze usage trends and recommend reorder points, safety stock, and lot sizes
  • Coordinate with Production and Warehouse teams to align material availability with production schedules
  • Support the maintenance of third-party fulfillment inventory by monitoring stock levels, creating replenishment orders, and ensuring alignment with demand and production plans
  • Other responsibilities as designated by management
Required Skills and Abilities
  • 2–5 years of experience in procurement, supply planning, materials management, or other related experience
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Strong communication and supplier management skills
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and independently
  • Forklift certification or ability to be certified
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in manufacturing or GMP environment preferred
  • Experience with MRP systems and demand planning processes
  • Understanding of inventory management principles (EOQ, safety stock, lead times)
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods.
  • Bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
